Metal of Honor

So every morning at school we talk about some words like Committment, Integrity,Citizenship,Sacrifice,Patriotism, and Courage. So what I think committmenmt means is committing to do a run for charity or a run to help raise money for something. What I think integrity means is having strength to stand up for someone. I also think courage means the same thing as integrity like having strength to stick up for someone if they are being bullied. What I think citizenship means is helping your community by picking up trash! So to me sacrifice means giving up your favorite toy because some kids do not have toys so you donate things you love to help other people. And patriotism I feel like maybe it means being nice to other people you do not know if they are sad help them because they are just like you!

Explorer Simulation!

 So in class we did Explorer Simulations so how it works was we got into groups and we pretended like we were on ships, and we pretended like we were alive when Christopher Columbus was alive! But anyway we pretended like we got diseases and we had 5 lives so when we got a disease we would lose one health point and when something bad happened to our whole ship we would lose one morale point, so when we got to zero morale points we would lose our ship! So we would have to swim to wherever we needed to go! When we would have two roles to choose from we made a ship decision so one person in the group would hold up a one, two, or if there are three decisions than three. So then after that we would have different parts to play basically. So when it came to an end we had two decisions to make, we either kept searching for gold after they said in it they had no more gold on the island some people decided to keep searching! Or the second one we go back home a couple of groups chose going back home! Well when we went home we had to put down in our logs how happy we were to be off of the island!

What are we doing in class?

In class we are working on character traits and prefixes. I am blogging today because this is my last time blogging for you!!! Another student will be taking over starting Monday. So I would like to talk about what we have been doing in class time! We have also been reading in groups. Each group has a different novel I´m reading ¨Frindle¨. It´s really good so far I suggest you read it too!!! In math, we are doing partial products and in science, we are doing a various amount of experiments! Bye!!!

Flowers!

This year our 5th grade class and the 6th grade class next door are competing in a little challenge... For every book we read we get to make a flower. Mrs. Csoto has to approve that you read the book though. To prove that you can take a test on it, write about it, talk to Mrs. Csoto about it, get a signature, etc. Whichever class has the most flowers by the end of the year or so wins! There are so many prizes to choose from! So far the 5th grade class (us) is winning. 11-8.

Our Class Song

Every year Mrs. Csoto picks a song for the class to sing in class and for our Spring and Winter Concerts. This year our class is singing "Unstoppable" by The Score. We sing it every morning to get our practice because we'll be singing it every day, every music class, every event.

School Rules!

This year Dianne Csoto's class is going to be switching classes. We will be going to math and science in the class next door. Then Language arts and of course tech in our class! Our class is the tech class because our teacher is "The Tech Queen". Our class rules are to be respectful. We learned that being respectful adds up to every rule ever! Which means It's just easier to remember one rule instead of a million.

School's Starting!

The first two weeks of school were very exciting! The class got to meet their teacher and see what the class is going to be like. Our class is not like any other class though. Our class has flexible seating where we get to sit in rocking chairs, yoga balls, camping chairs, etc. In about the first week of school the class got to see the solar eclipse with the NASA approved glasses and draw what they saw up in the sky every five minutes or so.

Technology

This year we've been using touchscreen Chromebooks.  We do FrontRow (a math program).  We do our individual projects, like the vacations for math. Our class does most of our writing projects on the Chromebooks.  We use our Chromebooks for Google Classroom.   We use it for our report.   Technology has gotten advanced.

Blogging

Blogging is writing about a topic.  Blogging makes me feel happy.  We learned about blogging. We designed and created our own blog.  We did long paragraphs. It is fun.

The way we designed it was by picking a background and the type of style our blog will look like.  We had lots of fun creating our blogs.

The First Weeks of School

The first weeks of school we did some interesting activities.  We played volleyball.  We've done running and exercising.  We did "All About Me" projects.  We learned about Digital Citizenship.

We're doing more projects right now. The States Road Trip is about math. We did Breakout in the library.  We are learning about blogs.
